What can I expect?
Intensive English GCSE starts Monday 13th May until Friday 24th May at Colchester (Wilson Marriage). You will need to attend every day over the 2 weeks. It will not be possible to catch up if one session is missed. There will be homework given every night and at the weekends which you will need to complete to ensure you consolidate the skills taught in the sessions.
When will I sit my exams?
The GCSE exam dates are: 4th and 7th June which you must also be able to attend. The exam board we use is AQA and at the assessment more information will be given about the course.
What will happen in the assessment?
At the assessment, you will complete a skills check, a piece of writing and also deliver a short presentation (lasting 5-10 minutes). The presentation is graded for your GCSE certificate but will not affect your overall GCSE grade. The presentation can be on any topic you choose and you will need to be able to answer a few short questions from others on the topic. You can bring prompts / use powerpoint etc. You will be assessed on the following:
Use of standard English
Structure of presentation
Responding to questions
